To check a suspended load weight, first confirm that suspended weighing is authorised, the complete arrangement is suitable and the expected total load is within every applicable rating. Prepare the scale according to its instructions, allow the authorised lifting process to produce a stable condition, read the on-scale display, record the result and return the load through the approved plan. This is a high-level workflow, not lifting or rigging instruction.

Is the task suitable before weighing begins?

Start with the purpose of the reading. An internal load check may support handling or stock decisions, but it is not automatically suitable for a sale by weight, certification or another regulated measurement. The required accuracy, calibration evidence, record and approval should be defined before equipment is selected or used.

Establish the credible total suspended load, including the item and everything below the scale. The P6 has a rated capacity of 3,000 kg, and Tare does not remove physical load or increase that limit. The crane or hoist, lifting point, connections, scale and load attachment also require their own confirmed ratings and suitability.

Physical fit is a separate gate. Responsible people must confirm the upper connection, lower hook, connection path, load seating, alignment, installed length and available headroom. The P6 has an automatic anti-drop safety latch, but a closed latch cannot correct an unsuitable connection, poor alignment or an inadequately rated component.

Stop before the check if the total load, a component rating, physical fit, intended measurement use or required documentation remains uncertain. A platform scale may be the better method where an authorised lifting plan does not cover suspended weighing.

What should be prepared before the display is used?

The scale should enter the task through the organisation's normal pre-use process. Follow the manufacturer instructions and site procedure for condition checks, status, power, controls and inspection records. A separate pre-use crane scale checklist explains the categories to review without replacing a competent inspection.

The P6 uses an English backlit LCD with black digits. Confirm that the authorised reading position provides a clear view and that glare, obstruction or workplace conditions will not make the result ambiguous. The supplied remote controls functions from up to 20 metres under suitable conditions, but it is not a remote weight display and its range is not a safety distance.

Zero, Tare and Hold should only be used as described in the manufacturer instructions and authorised procedure. Zero does not prove calibration. Tare can support a net reading, but gross physical load still controls capacity. Hold retains a displayed result; it does not prove that the load was stable.

If the display cannot be read clearly, a control behaves unexpectedly or equipment status is unclear, stop and use the site's reporting process. Do not improvise around a doubtful display or continue simply because a number appears.

What is the high-level suspended weighing workflow?

This workflow is a coordination tool for people who already have an authorised lifting plan, suitable equipment, training and defined responsibilities. It deliberately omits executable lifting instructions.

  1. Authorise the task. Confirm the weighing purpose, responsible roles, lifting plan, expected total suspended load, component ratings, physical fit, inspection status and measurement evidence.
  2. Prepare the reading system. Follow the manufacturer instructions and site procedure for the scale, display and permitted control functions. Confirm that the on-scale LCD can be read from the authorised position.
  3. Use the approved lifting process. The trained and authorised team carries out the activity under the site plan. This article supplies no rigging method, lifting height, connection method, standing distance or movement instruction.
  4. Wait for the defined stable condition. Accept a reading only when the authorised procedure's criteria are met. If the load moves unexpectedly, the display does not settle or conditions differ from the plan, stop and follow the site's response process.
  5. Read and record. Take the weight from the scale's LCD, apply only approved unit and control settings, and record the result with the context required by the organisation.
  6. Complete the planned task. The authorised team returns the load and equipment through the approved process, then completes post-use reporting and storage requirements.

Each stage is a decision gate, not automatic permission to proceed. An unexpected load, unclear reading, equipment concern, environmental change or loss of communication should route the task back to the responsible person. The display never overrides a stop condition in the lifting plan.

How should a stable reading be interpreted and recorded?

Use the stability rule defined by the manufacturer instructions and site procedure. Do not invent a time interval, movement allowance or visual test from a general article. Hold may help with recording, but it only preserves the displayed value; it does not confirm correct load presentation or calibration.

Record enough context for another authorised person to understand the figure. Depending on the site's procedure, that may include the load identifier, date, displayed unit, whether a tare was applied, task reference and any exception. Avoid copying a number without its gross or net meaning.

The P6 has a stated accuracy of 0.5 kg. That statement is not a display division, calibration result or approval for regulated trade weighing. If the weight supports a contractual, financial, safety-critical or regulated decision, confirm the evidence and acceptance criteria required for that use.

When a reading is unexpected, do not use repeated lifting attempts as troubleshooting. Pause the task and let responsible people check the load information, equipment status, approved procedure and required verification. The cause should not be diagnosed under a suspended load.

What does this workflow not replace?

This article does not replace manufacturer instructions, formal training, an organisation's risk assessment, lifting plan, pre-use inspection, maintenance, statutory thorough examination or decisions by a competent person.
