How do the two weighing methods differ?

A platform scale measures a load supported on its deck. When does suspended weighing make practical sense?
Suspended weighing can make sense when a component, bagged material or other awkward item is already being handled within a planned lifting operation and cannot be positioned conveniently on a floor scale. The relevant advantage is workflow fit: the weighing point may be incorporated into an existing process after the arrangement, capacity and physical interfaces have been checked.
Capacity must be assessed at two levels. First, the total suspended load through the crane scale must remain within the scale's rated capacity. Loads that arrive on compatible pallets, stillages or trolleys may naturally favour platform weighing, subject to tare and the platform's requirements. If the workflow already ends at a packing or dispatch station, routing the load over a deck may be simpler than moving it to a lifting point. Conversely, a long, uneven or unstable item may not be suitable merely because part of it fits on the deck.
Choose a platform method if there is no appropriate rated lifting process, if adequate headroom is unavailable, or if the crane scale display cannot be read from the normal control position. A crane scale should not be selected as a workaround. The method must fit the authorised site process.
How should workflow and constraints be compared?
Start with the load in its normal state. Record its maximum expected total weight, including any lifting accessories or containers that would pass through a crane scale.
